New Year Buffolutions

Last year, Buffaloo did nothing special to mark New Year's Day.  Back then, however, he was a puppy.  It was really the first one he had experienced.  Since then, he has grown.  Matured, if you will.  Not the wide-eyed puppy of last year, but a more worldly, wizened Buffaloo enters 2013.

And so it is this year, Buffaloo is a dog.  He would like to share with you all a list of his New Year's Resolutions, an ongoing effort to be a better dog.

Sure, he's a good dog.  But he wants to be a Great dog.

He plopped his head on my shoulder.  I snapped a bad photo with my phone.  I look kinda awful, but he looks sooooo damn cute.

Anyway, here are his ten resolutions.

1)  Learn a few new tricks.  This one puts quite a lot on me, as it takes both of us.  But if there is one thing he can do it's pester me until I play with him.

2)  Bark less at the dog park.  Sure he loves it.  Sure the other dogs know what he means.  But the other people...they seem to get confused.

3)  Finally stand up to his nemesis, Scary Furnace Monster.  This...may not be realistic.

4)  Make some new doggy friends.  He has a shortlist drawn up, expect calls for interviews in the future.

5)  Understand that love =/= mouthyness.  He wants to learn to express his fondness for people without placing their extremities in his mouth.

6)  Learn to bake bread.  This would make life soooo much easier.

7)  Finish that novel he's been working on.  Technically, it's Harry Potter fan fiction.  More specifically it's Harry Potter fan fiction starring Buffaloo as the newest DADA professor.  It's...in progress.

8)  Go for more/longer runs.  This is more or less calling me out, I believe.  He certainly wants to, but we...have not been going on very many runs lately.

9)  Figure out the difference between these "cats" and "squirrels".

10)  Be good when no one is watching, cuddle like he's never been hurt, obey like he doesn't want the treats.

Also, he wanted to send all his friends special homemade treats.  I pointed out that there is really only one thing that he makes, and there ain't no one who wants that in their mailbox.
